I Thirst

Seven Things Jesus Said from the Cross, Part 5

Audio Sermon on  John 19:28-30

There was nothing unusual about a man becoming thirsty as he suffered crucifixion, but John says that in Jesus’ case it fulfilled the scriptures. In this sermon, Pastor Hinkle reflects upon what Jesus fulfilled and explains how normal human experience was part of that fulfillment.

Be Reconciled to God

Audio Sermon
Luke 15:11-32 & 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

Sometimes reconciliation is easier than we think. Other times it is quite difficult.

How hard is it for someone to be reconciled to God? For the willing person it is quite easy, but not all are willing.

In this sermon, Pastor Hinkle uses Jesus’ parable of The Prodigal Son and Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians to urge his listeners to be reconciled to God. Why were Jesus and Paul were urging reconciliation upon people who knew God? Listen as Pastor Hinkle explains.

My God, My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me?

Seven Things Jesus Said from the Cross, Part 4
Audio Sermon on Matthew 27:45-49

You’ve probably experienced rejection sometime in your life, but not like this.

Although some were wondering if  God might somehow deliver Jesus and usher in the Messianic Kingdom, God turns away and Jesus dies–alone and forsaken.

Is this a tragic miscarriage of justice? Or is something greater going on? Why did God forsake the man He called His beloved Son? Pastor Hinkle finds the answer in Psalm 22 and the writings of the apostle Paul.
