In Ephesians 4:17-5:2, Paul urges his readers to make a complete break with their past sins. The sexual immorality, lies, abusive speech, and violence that marked their society enslaved them to sin and death. Paul urges them not return to it, but to live out the life they had been given when they were baptized.
For a short time Peter became Jesus’ adversary because he was unwilling to accept what Jesus was trying to teach him. We also need to give attention to God’s Word; especially, when it is hard to accept.
Audio recording of my sermon on Matthew 4:12-25, delivered January 22nd, 2017.
Matthew wrote that Jesus’ preaching and miracles fulfilled what God had said through Isaiah—that the residents of Galilee, who lived in spiritual darkness, would see a great light. How does Jesus’ preaching of repentance and the coming Kingdom of God enlighten people and give them life? Give a listen and find out!
